Arroyo Vega Second Flood Relief Tunnel

To combat recurring flooding that affects local livelihoods and strains the city budget, the City of Buenos Aires is constructing an 8.4-kilometer-long tunnel. The initiative encompasses creating approximately 9.8 kilometers of secondary and tertiary drainage networks in the Vega basin. Notably, 2.4 kilometers of the network is being excavated using pipe-jacking technology. For this purpose, three launching shafts and four receiving shafts were meticulously prepared. The pipe-jacking tunnels and shafts traverse the Pampeano formation, primarily characterized by stiff clay. 

For this project, TYLin provided construction site supervision and diligently reviewed and approved the contractor's detailed design to ensure the project's success.
