Greater Lafayette Climate Action Plan

Greeley and Hansen is the Program Manager for the Greater Lafayette Climate Action Plan (GLCAP). The GLCAP is a historic, regional and collaborative initiative by the Cities of Lafayette, West Lafayette, and Tippecanoe County. The project includes developing leadership framework, performing baseline assessments, low maintenance green stormwater infrastructure evaluations, and identifying program initiatives with a focus on sustainability and resilience.

Political support and stakeholder engagement have been crucial. The Mayors of Lafayette and West Lafayette and the Tippecanoe County Commissioners have formally declared their commitment for the GLCAP through a Proclamation that was read and signed on World Environment Day in 2021. Since then, our team has engaged local government officials and a variety of stakeholder groups to critically assess the current status and overarching goals for the Greater Lafayette community. Stakeholder groups include, but are not limited to, energy providers, experts in racial justice and social equity, public health workers, transportation officials, high school students and administrators, farmers, vulnerable population assistance workers, and other leaders within their communities. Based on this region's greenhouse gas emissions profile, the GLCAP has four major focus areas: Built Environment (Energy), Transportation, Agriculture and Other Land Use (AFOLU), and Water, Wastewater and Solid Waste. Greeley and Hansen published the Greater Lafayette Climate Action Plan in January of 2023, and the community is currently in the implementation phase of the plan.

• Orchestrated a coalition of community-based organizations, academia, local governments, private industry, and other stakeholders to develop a first of its kind regional partnership to design for strong resilient and robust communities
