Millerton Farmhouse
TYLin provided structural engineering design services for a contemporary single-family residence on the site of a former dairy farm in Millerton, New York.
This new home is nestled near a hilltop pasture in upstate New York. The primarily wood-framed house and garage utilizes steel framing to help support a 150’-long-by-4’-wide steel canopy that cantilevers off of the south side of the house. Custom thermal break details ensure that the large thermal mass of the canopy does not effect home’s occupants.
Structural scope of work also included a detached garage and guest house, large site retaining walls, and custom cantilevered concrete site stairs.
