TYLin provided structural engineering services for the renovation and expansion of Montgomery College's first academic building.

This LEED Silver certified renovation and addition project was completed in two phases with operations maintained through construction. The original 1978 three-story building joins the Academic Quad to the north for the consolidation of STEM facilities. This project was part of a campus master plan.

The first phase of the project consolidated Student Services in the existing north half of the building while creating new laboratories, office, and support spaces for the Physical Science, Engineering, and Landscape Technologies (PSEL) departments. Phase 2 included renovation of the north half of the building to accommodate the Mathematics department classrooms, offices, and support spaces. Prominent space was provided for the Math, Physics, and Engineering Learning (MAPEL) Center, a tutoring center that is central to the building’s concept of multidisciplinary interaction.

Structural scope also included the addition of vertical circulation paths that connect the interior with the existing first floor main entrance and the addition of a new third floor over an existing laboratory area.
