TYLin provided structural engineering design services to transform an abandoned structure into The Darling Hotel in Visalia, California.

This 1930s Art Deco building once served as the Tulare County Courthouse annex. TYLin provided the structural designs to restore and reimagine the building as The Darling Hotel. Both the interior and exterior of the four-story structure were rehabilitated. The designs created a boutique hotel that celebrates and preserves the structure’s historic character.

Project Highlights:

  • The project team carefully restored the exterior facades and seamlessly inserted a new exterior stair tower to meet modern egress requirements.

  • The Darling Hotel features 32 suites, four meeting spaces, a pool, and a rooftop bar and restaurant with panoramic mountain views.

  • The project architect was Ten Over Studio.
